Beyonce and Jay-Z investigated after their trip to Cuba

The American pop star and her husband visited Cuba for their fifth wedding anniversary. Now, the US politicians question whether they broke some rules with their holiday.

They’ve enjoyed a lovely trip accompanied by their mothers and the entire visit was highlighted by Cuba's state media. Everything went fine until the Obama administration received an accusatory letter questioning why the couple was able to visit the country where US tourism is restricted under the long-standing US trade embargo. US citizens can visit the island only with an acquired license and joining organized tours for cultural, educational or religious visits. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen and Mario Diaz-Balart, both members of the House of Representatives, have written to the Office of Foreign Assets Control, for "information regarding the type of license that Beyoncé and Jay-Z received, for what purpose, and who approved such travel".

Even if Obama administration offered them the type of visa they needed to enter Cuba their journey was publicized different and this rose questions. They enjoyed some of the best restaurants of Havana, danced in Cuban clubs and took pictures with willing fans.

The couple did not make any remarks regarding this problem and the State Department said that it had no prior knowledge of the visit. The Carter family could face a fine for their trip if it is proven that they travelled without a license.
