Dark chocolate is good for our health

Studies have shown that this food has many health benefits, especially for the heart and psyche.

According to a study conducted by researcher Maria Moore of the University of Louisiana, black chocolate reduces blood pressure, through the way that our intestines ferment its compound called cocoa. Microbes which result from the decomposition of dark chocolate produce anti-inflammatory molecules, which enter the bloodstream and then help protect the arteries.

The compound called cocoa contains antioxidants and a small amount of diet fibres. These components are easily absorbed by the body and processed by the good bacteria in the colon.

A few tablets of chocolate are beneficial to intestinal transit. "Cocoa powder, one of the ingredients of dark chocolate (at a rate of over 30%), contains antioxidants like polyphenols, catechins and epicatehinele, and fibers," said John Finley, research coordinator.

It was also proven that a large amount of dark chocolate consumption lowers the chances of suffering a heart attack in the long term.

It is advisable to consume two tablets a day to help lower blood pressure, reduce the risk of myocardial infarction but also, the incidence of stroke.
