How to Get Seductive, Smudge-Proof Eyes

Taylor Swift is known for her soulful lyrics and pretty voice, but also for her beauty. Let's face it, the girl is drop-dead gorgeous. Although she looks beautiful in pretty much anything she wears, on her body or face, she is well-known for her favoring the dark, smoky eye. Especially with baby blues like hers, the dark look makes the eyes pop, and you can achieve it yourself using the right technique.

To get Taylor Swifts sexy stare, we suggests curling your lashes, then dotting on a light layer of eye-shadow primer or oil-free foundation from lids to brows. Both grip onto makeup, preventing color from migrating.

1. Apply a primer to your lids. There are various types of eyeshadow primer available [cream, liquid, powder, pick your fancy ] but the most important thing is to create a light base on your lids. This gives the makeup something better to hold onto than your bare skin, meaning it lasts longer without the need for reapplication.

2. Brush on a coat of a dark eyeshadow such as black or charcoal across your lids, up to the crease. For the best smoky-eye look, you start with the darkest shade and then blend on top of that with lighter colors. So don't worry, this goth-look won't be around for much longer.

3. Apply a shadow in just a shade or two lighter than your base shade, starting at the outer corners of your eyes and moving your brush in circular motions around on the crease and lid. You can continue adding more of this light shade in layers until you have your smoky eye as light as you want it; the great thing about Taylor's favorite look is that it's so versatile. You can literally take the look from day to evening just by a difference of a few layers.

4. Line your top and bottom lash line and use a smudge brush or your pinky finger to smudge the liner just a bit. This creates more of a sultry smoky eye and makes it not so perfect. Create a highlight by sweeping a light, neutral shade under each brow bone and finish the look with two or three coats of dark mascara. Smoke-alicious! Watch out ladies, you're going to be singeing the guys with your fire-hot look.

5. Gently pull your lid upward so you can see its inner rim. Line the rim with a few coats of jet-black waterproof pencil. Then line the inner rim of your lower lash line

6. Next, use the same pencil to line the skin directly above your upper lash line. Blend color into lashes with an angled brush.

7. Layering liquid liner over pencil is the key to a stay-put look-the liquid dries and locks down the first layer of color. With a black liquid-liner pen, make four evenly spaced dashes over the pencil line, then connect them.

8. Place the tip of the liquid-liner pen on the dot, and drag it to the outer corner of your eye, thickening the line as you go.
