Positive Attitude - 5 Steps to a Happy Life

Happiness - isn't that the thing we all strive to find and keep? Nobody is happy all the time, but some people are definitely more fulfilled than others. Studies reveal that happiness has little to do with material goods or high achievement; it boils down to your outlook on life, and the quality of your relationships.

A positive mental attitude can improve your health, enhance your relationships, increase your chances of success, and add years to your life.

We all know that having a positive attitude feels better than a negative one, but this is not always easy. For some reason, we are all attracted to and can be easily drawn to the negative side. Sometimes we  see the world through a negative perspective, focusing on the bad and ignoring the good — especially when things aren’t going the way we had hoped.

Following five steps are the best ways to begin stumbling down that path to happiness by establishing a habit of positive attitude.

Step 1: Believe Happiness is a Choice

Teaching yourself to see that happiness is a choice and  that everything happens how it happens and it’s up to you  to choose how you want to feel about it.

Step 2: Rid Your Life of Negativity

You should learn to focus on the positive things you were  doing and let go of the negative ones. This process is  not easy but you  shouldn’ t forget   this: having negativity in your life prevents you from living a truly positive existence.

Step 3: Look For the Positive in Life

Most of time it’s not very easy to see that is an positive aspect in everything, for this reason we have to look, and sometimes we have to look hard.

The only way to know you’re making headway towards your balanced life is
to keep track of your progress. Keep a journal that is easily accessible throughout the day. On the very first page have the description of your balanced life. On the second page write your measurable goals and action steps. Everyday write down the steps, no matter how small, that you’ve taken toward your measurable goal.

Step 4: Reinforce Positivity in Yourself

Being Happy is even easier to spread than the flu. Just smile at people, give them a warm hello or tell them a funny story and watch as they catch the being Happy bug. Give everybody a big smile and a warm, enthusiastic ‘Hello’. It costs nothing to be  warm, to be positive, or to simply spread happiness. So why ration them? It’s a very easy to understand. Happiness breeds happiness, negativity breeds negativity. And if other people are negative, you can let your positivity outshine it.

Even when you don't feel like it, the simple act of smiling makes you feel better. A response called facial feedback indicates that, when you smile, you send a signal to your brain that says, "I am happy." Additionally, if you're smiling, you're likely to seem more approachable and happy to others - and people are more likely to smile back.

Do something helpful for somebody. No matter how awkward it feels at first, keep working at it until it becomes part of your personality.

Step 5: Share Happiness with Others

Be nice to other people, no matter what. Tell someone he or she looks nice today. Tell someone they did a great job on that presentation. Tell your parents or children (or both!) how much you love them and how great they are.

People appreciate positivity and the more you are sharing it with others, the more you are practicing it and reinforcing it in your own life. Try to treat others, as you would like to be treated.

Positive attitude is the power that drives you to success. Developing and manifesting a positive attitude makes life happier and more successful.

Happiness can’t be found overnight nor you can change everything that you dislike about your life in few days. In order to be happy you need to be patient and to think using a long term mentality. Once you start pursuing your goals everyday you will become a bit happier until one day you will experience true happiness
